Luna
Luna was found tied up outside a shop without food or water on a boiling hot day. She had been there for hours before someone took pity on her. She was about 10 weeks old and had lots of bites and cuts and was full of worms and fleas. She had a necklace around her neck instead of a collar, which was so tight that it had cut into her throat. Her ears were so badly infected that she had to be anaesthetised twice to have them cleaned and treated. She was very nervous of raised voices so we have always had to keep celebrations to a minimum. None of this has stopped her from being the most loving dog in the world with the waggiest tail. We think that she is a beagle/spaniel cross, as she is also the naughtiest dog in the world. When we first started agility, I really struggled to keep her in the ring, but we persevered, and she absolutely loves it. I still never know what is going to happen, except that we are going to have a lot of fun. Despite her beagle nose and tendency to do exactly as she wants, she has managed to get to Grade 7 in medium agility.
Unfortunately, this last year she has become increasingly frightened of high-pitched noises and even when people are talking in an animated way. I bought a micro camper for us to go to shows together but she is terrified of the bleeps it makes so I am currently in discussion with Peugeot to switch them off and also working hard with lots of treats to help her and hope that with time she will overcome this. Whatever happens, we will find a way to get through this as she is so precious to me. She is named after the moon as she brings light into dark places. We love her to bits - my little Looney Tunes xx
