The Backstreet Award
This award is not based on points, placings, or competition results. In fact, the winner may not even have achieved a clear round yet. Instead, it recognises the dedication, patience, and partnership between a rescue dog and its owner, celebrating the progress they have made together and the values that Yvonne held so dearly.
The award is presented in memory of Yvonne Goode, a fitting tribute as she was a DARL member from the very beginning. Yvonne used the word 'Backstreet' in her rescue dogs' KC names. She was an amazing, selfless lady whose dedication to rescuing dogs touched the lives of many. Sadly, she was taken far, far too young Whenever you met her at a show, instead of the usual greetings, the conversation would often start with, "No, I cannot possibly have another dog!" - a running joke among those who knew her well. Yvonne brought fun and laughter wherever she went, always accompanied by her trademark naughty laugh. Beneath that fun-loving spirit, however, was a deep commitment to giving dogs a second chance and helping them find happy, fulfilling lives.
To enter, write your dog's story (approx one and a half A4 pages, can be less), and please include several good-quality photographs. Tell us about your dog's journey, the challenges they have overcome, and the achievements they have reached along the way. The winner and runners-up will be selected by our sponsors in December. The winning dog will receive The Backstreet Award, presented in Yvonne's memory.
