Gertie

KC Name: (Flirtie Gertie Wertie) - Small G7

Gertie is a Patterdale Terrier (now 12.5 years old), she was a stray and on the council put-to-sleep list then went to a large rescue, but was sadly returned due to severe fear aggression and classed as 'not homeable'. She came into Rescue Remedies Dog Rescue at just 6 months old in 2013.

I volunteered here so I fostered her for 2 weeks, then quickly adopted her as she was petrified of everything. She passed her Bronze and Silver KC Good Citizens obedience training, started competing in KC agility competitions at Grade 1 in April 2019, reaching Grade 7 in August 2022 (despite 18 months off during the lockdowns). I’m so proud she’s won the DARL league 3 years running and is still competing. She’s not been an easy dog, but has transitioned from my ‘gremlin on a lead’ to a loving, funny and very special little ratbag who has filled my spare room with rosettes and trophies and my heart with joy!

Maggie

KC Name:  (Maggie Myfanwe Apache Tears) - Medium G6

Maggie is a Poodle cross and is 6 years old. She had been a lockdown pup who I picked up from Many Tears age 3 in May 2022. She had been shut away as she was such a wild child - no manners, no boundaries, separation anxiety, and was just a pure bundle of energy, but what a cuddle monster!

We soon started agility training which she absolutely loves. Like an unguided missile our results are mainly a catalogue of E’s interspersed with the odd 1st and high placing.

She’s fast, furious and fantastic to run but I wish my body and brain worked as fast as she does in the ring. She tries so hard and has huge agility potential but it’s certainly a challenge now we’re navigating trickier higher grade courses. She’s definitely found her vocation in life with agility, and am amazed we’ve reached G6 - I now await the day when we can find a little more consistency in our runs!
